Biography

Meg Shaw is an artist, working in Vancouver, Canada, the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples–Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. She focuses on painting, drawing and sculpture. Her practice is based on the figure and narrative. She works with bold colour, the mythological, the mundane, and alien figures, to explore the psychological and unsaid aspects of human vulnerability and relationships.
Meg works primarily in ink, watercolour, casein and oil.
Outside of her personal practice, Meg also works making video games as a concept artist, art director and painter. She took a break from the industry in 2020 to focus on her personal work, and returned part time in 2025. She now enjoys a balnace of both.
She graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2003 with an Hon. BA in Studio Art, and the Traditional Animation program at Capilano University in 2007.
